It seems like authors have a hard time of letting things develop these days. I feel like a couple of the events would have had greater impact later in the series when I really cared about the characters, but in this first book... I just wasn't attached to them yet. It's a shame really, one of the things that was supposed to have a really big impact didn't, but I know it would have devastated had I read it later in the series.
The series does have potential and I look forward to seeing where it goes. It seems to be a bit unique, which is becoming rate in urban fantasy.
